Zack has been sick since Sunday night. He ate three chili dogs and then complained that his stomach hurt. I figured he had just eaten too much and sent him to bed. But throughout the night, he threw up several times, and I started to worry it might be food poisoning.
Yesterday, he asked for a priesthood blessing. I placed my hands on my son’s head and gave him a mother’s blessing—that his pain and fever would subside and that he would begin to feel better. Afterward, he was finally able to sleep and ended up resting most of the day.
This morning, he woke up and said, “Mom, I think I need to go to the hospital.” I had a PTA meeting and Ava had an orthodontist appointment, so my plan was to take him afterward. But then I felt a small, quiet impression that it might be appendicitis—and my attitude shifted immediately.
I called Anthony to see if he could take Zack to the hospital, and I would meet them as soon as my appointment was finished. Thankfully, he didn’t have much scheduled and agreed. By the time I was done, Zack had already been diagnosed and was being prepped for surgery.
Today, I am so incredibly grateful—for medical insurance, for a husband who cares, for friends who show up and help when it’s needed, and for a loving Heavenly Father. I’m especially grateful that I listened to the Holy Ghost.
Zack is currently in the OR, and I’m praying for a quick and smooth recovery.
